About 3D Images

So real you can almost touch them.

Note: These specimens have had long journeys through water, rocks, and more. They may have some minor chips, marks, and other signs of wear.

That is what I wanted to present to you with these stereoscopic images.

For years, we operated a small seashell museum in Troy, New York, where visitors could see and touch our collection of shells in person. Now, we aim to bring a unique experience to folks around the world. One way we can do this is through 3D photographs.

The viewer opens this 3-dimensional world of crisp detail so the identification of your prize specimens is unmistakable. If wonder and discovery are your reasons for seeking this out, you will find this to be a totally unique experience. This is the only place on our pale blue dot that this exists.

These photographs are captured on a digital camera. Two photographs are taken from slightly different angles, simulating the way our eyes see objects. Once the images are printed and placed side-by-side at a specific distance apart, they are ready to be seen through viewers.

Get your 3D Viewers

When you purchase any of our 3D prints, you will have the option to add a set of 3D viewers to your order.

There are two types of viewers: one intended for viewing on a computer screen, and another for viewing printed images.

Note: The process we use to make these images is entirely different from the red/blue 3D imaging method, and 3D glasses for red/blue images will not work with our images.

Using Your 3D Viewers

The bands on each side of the computer screen viewer go behind each ear for hands-free viewing.

The computer viewer is designed to view your computer screen from a comfortable seated range of 12 to 18 inches. You may have to adjust your personal comfortable distance moving forward or back.

Because these images are true 3D, you may have to: allow your eyes to adjust to depths and curvatures and/or raise or lower the left or right side of your head slightly to bring some features of the object into alignment.

First, squeeze the long edges of the viewer to make it pop up into a box.

Flip the tabs in the corners down to “lock” the viewers into shape.

Look through the lenses to view the photos.

You may need to move slightly until you find the best angle for viewing.

Cell Phone 3D Viewers

These foldable, portable viewers attach to your cell phone for viewing our 3D images anywhere.

After you bring up our site on your mobile browser and attach the viewer, make sure to rotate your phone so the images display sideways. You may need to lay the phone flat.
