Natural Connections

In the natural world, the same patterns, numbers, and shapes appear over and over again. Let’s look at some plants, fossils, rocks, and animals to see examples of these patterns.

The Golden Ratio

The Golden Ratio, related to the Fibonacci Sequence, is a mathematical relationship that appears throughout the natural world, particularly in spirals occurring in leaves, antlers, plants, and of course, seashells. This ratio is often used in art, as it is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

 Hexagonal shapes

Hexagonal patterns are found in beehives, rocks, wasp nests, snake scales, and more.
